Prep, Apply, Finish!

I want to discuss how three simple steps can help you achieve both flawless makeup that lasts all day, and a flawless event that you can organize.

First some background information.

For school this past semester one of my courses was Event Management. We were split into groups and told to work together as a team to put on an event. Our event could be anything, we had very few restrictions. It just had to be appropriate for our teacher to attend and mark! My team, Pulse Communications, (yes we named ourselves!) decided to organize an event that focused on heart healthy eating! Our event was named Bringing Healthy Back. We were lucky enough to work with the Queens Quay Loblaws, and put on a very successful event.

The event was a great learning experience. There were many things to learn during the planning and execution of the event. I want to share with you three steps that will help you achieve both flawless makeup and a flawless event.

Prime, Apply, and Finish!

Step 1: Prep

When makeup artists prep the skin, they use a primer that creates a smooth canvass for foundation to sit on; it fills in any fine lines, and helps to make sure foundation lasts all day. The prep for your event is the planning before the event. If you prepare before it will create a smooth foundation for your event to run on. You will be able to fill in any fine lines, or details, that could cause your event to not run smoothly. If you prep there is a very good chance that your event will be a success, and as an added bonus your makeup will look flawless too!

Step 2: Application

In makeup this is the step where you apply your eye shadow, liners, mascara, foundation and blush. It is where all the colour application takes place. When planning an event, think of the application as the event roll-out. Being organized, using the right tools to achieve your object, are both important aspects to achieve both a successful event and flawless face.

Step 3: Finish

The finishing step makes all the difference. With your cosmetics, its important to use a finishing powder or spray in order to set your makeup, and make sure it lasts all day long. This can make all the difference between having your foundation melting off your face, or staying put so you continually look glamorous. In terms of an event the Finish, includes the finishing touches you add to the event. Just like with makeup, the finishing touches can make a world of difference with your event. Little details make a big difference, whether it is the decorations, music or venue.

If you remember these three steps! Prep, Apply and Finish! You will get both the flawless makeup and event of your dreams!
